Skyline Trail

The Skyline Trail, located within Cape Breton Highlands National Park, is the most popular and photographed hiking trail in Atlantic Canada. Situated on French Mountain, this 8.2-kilometer loop offers dramatic cliff-edge views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Cabot Trail. The trail features well-maintained boardwalks and a staircase complex perched 400 meters above the water, providing accessible yet stunning coastal vistas suitable for both experienced hikers and families.

The trailhead is located approximately 15 minutes north of Chéticamp. Due to high demand, parking frequently closes between 9:30 AM and 4:00 PM during peak season. Visitors are advised to arrive early or reserve parking in advance to ensure access. Admission to the park requires a valid Parks Canada Discovery Pass or a daily entry fee.
