The Wild Pacific Trail offers a dramatic and accessible exploration of the rugged West Coast, in the town of Ucluelet, about 40 kilometres south of Tofino at the other end of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve's Long Beach Unit. It is not in Tofino itself, but it is an easy half-day trip from there. This network of interconnected paths allows visitors to experience the raw power of the Pacific Ocean from safe, elevated vantage points. The trail system is divided into distinct sections, primarily the 2.6-kilometer Lighthouse Loop and the 5-kilometer route connecting Big Beach Park to Rocky Bluffs.

The Lighthouse Loop provides a gentle, accessible circuit that is suitable for families and those with limited mobility, with gentle, well-graded sections around the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse. This area offers stunning views of the reef and the open ocean, making it an ideal spot for photographing stormy seas or watching for marine life. For those seeking a more immersive experience, the longer route through the dense rainforest leads to the Rocky Bluffs, where the canopy creates a serene, spiritual atmosphere.

The trail is open year-round, allowing visitors to witness the changing moods of the Pacific, from calm, misty mornings to powerful storm surges. Interpretive signs along the path provide educational insights into the local ecosystem, including the ancient cedar trees that line parts of the trail. The trail is free to access and does not require a permit, making it an inclusive destination for hikers, nature enthusiasts, and photographers of all abilities. Visitors are encouraged to dress in layers and wear sturdy footwear to fully enjoy the rugged coastal environment.
