Old First United Church

The Old First United Church in Hamilton, Ontario, was a significant architectural landmark that once stood at the intersection of King Street East and Wellington Street. Originally established as the First Methodist Church, the congregation opened its doors in the spring of 1914. In 1925, following the merger of Methodist and other Protestant denominations, the building was renamed First United Church. The structure was designed by local architect W.E.N. Hunter, who resided nearby, and showcased an Italian Renaissance style that was distinctive for the era.

The church was renowned for its impressive scale and design, featuring a seating capacity of 1,500. Its most notable feature was a large copper dome, measuring 56 feet high and 60 feet in diameter.
