Alpine Meadows

Alpine Meadows is a residential neighborhood and public park area in Whistler, British Columbia, reflecting the region’s transformation from a remote mountain settlement into a global resort destination. The area developed significantly during the 1970s and 1980s, coinciding with the opening of Whistler Mountain in 1966 and Blackcomb Mountain in 1980.

The park itself, originally designated as Meadow Park, was part of the Resort Municipality of Whistler’s 1980 Outdoor Recreation Plan. Construction began in the early 1980s, involving the creation of 11 acres of marshland and the installation of tennis courts. By 1983, the site was connected to Whistler Village via the Valley Trail. Although early development faced challenges, such as vegetation issues, the area was refined to include a baseball diamond, a playground, and paved pathways.

Today, Alpine Meadow serves as a community hub for residents and visitors. The area features recreational facilities, including tennis courts and a playground, and is connected to the broader network of trails in Whistler. The neighborhood is characterized by its residential character, offering a quiet contrast to the more commercial areas of the town. Visitors can explore the area on foot, utilizing the connected trail systems that link to other parts of Whistler. The area reflects the community’s growth and the integration of recreational infrastructure into the local landscape.
